On Sunday the 20th of November the Biba Next Level Competitions where held in Fitzroy. In its second year, we were super excited to participate.
This year 3 of our talented apprentices competed against their peers from other Melbourne salons for the opportunity to go to London and learn at the Vidal Sassoon’s Academy. These 3 apprentices put their skills out there to be judged and they did a great job. One of the 5 judges this year was none other then our very own Shakira Petrucci, Creative Director for the Zucci Group. This was the first time Shakira had the honour of judging a live industry competition.
“It was such a fun day! There was so much talent and skill on display in the 5 categories from all over Melbourne. It was such a hard task picking the winners. My favourite thing about the day was the inclusive and fun vibe that was through the whole event. Everyone was so supportive of each other. I am so proud of Zoe, Steph and Tamika for competing!” Shakira said.
Zoe from Zucci South Melbourne created a punk inspired pink crop shape on her model. Her look was bold and beautiful all at the same time. She cut and coloured her model’s hair and wanted to portray a strong shape in the cut with a bold yet feminine colour.
Tamika from Zucci Lifestyle Salon at David Jones created a warrioress inspires shape with braids and varied textures in the hair. She displayed many styling skills and presented a total look that had a strong editorial edge.
Stephanie from Zucci Ivanhoe created a whimsical voluminous styled up-do. She used varying colours of hair to show texture and structure in her shape. The makeup design was a key feature in her look, it drew attention to the eyes and had an etherial feel.
We are so proud of Zoe, Tamika and Stephanie for entering the Biba Next Level Competition! The event was a great success and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these 3 apprentices.
